Reflections from The Retail Technology Show 2025 – New Connections, Big Players, and Unexpected Perks

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend The Retail Technology Show 2025 at ExCeL London – and it didn’t disappoint. Spread across two packed days, the event brought together an impressive number of exhibitors, innovators, and retail technology leaders, offering an energising look into the current and future state of the industry.
From the outset, the atmosphere stood out. The organisers took a bold step with a circus and funfair theme, which surprisingly worked – creating relaxed breakout areas perfect for informal meetings and impromptu catch-ups away from the busy exhibition floor. It was a nice reminder that the retail world can blend business with a bit of fun.
The show also delivered on quality. I had insightful conversations with key players including Toshiba, Ingenico, and PMC. Each brought a unique perspective to the future of retail tech – from frictionless checkout experiences and evolving POS systems to the power of integration and connected data.
Beyond the business side, I left with a few unexpected but welcome additions: two fresh Moleskine notebooks (always handy) and a portable phone charger plus adapter cables – which came at the perfect time as my phone was just about out of juice!
Most importantly, I walked away with valuable new connections, a deeper understanding of the key players shaping retail innovation, and a few ideas already brewing for how Zyntrix can bring even more value to retailers navigating this fast-moving space.

To give a little background, myself and Greg Gormley were co-founders of a Fintech startup called Bink which was founded a little over 10 years ago. I left operations of that business after just one year …
